CULTURAL VISITS

I. "Mexico-Anáhuac: The center of indigenous cultures."

·     Historic Center of Mexico City.

· Prehispanic and vice royal Mexico: The Great Temple of the Gran Tenochtitlan (minimum 1 hour), its museum (minimum 2 hours) and the Metropolitan Cathedral of Mexico City (minimum 1 hour).

· Independent Mexico: Chapultepec Castle (minimum 2 hours), National Palace (minimum 1 hour) and Palacio de Bellas Artes (minimum 1 hour).

·     Museums: Anthropology (minimum 4 hours), Tamayo (minimum 1 hour) and Modern Art (minimum 2 hours).

·     Excursions:

· Coyoacán (1/2 day): Frida Kahlo Museum, León Trotsky Museum and House and the former convent of San Juan Bautista.

· Teotihuacán (1 day): ­Minimum groups of 30 people. $40usd per person, including meal in La Gruta. Return to Mexico City in the evening. (Trip: 1 hour & 1/2, approximately.)

· Cacaxtla (1/2 day): ­Minimum groups of 30 people. $30usd per person. No meals.  Departure at 8:00 am (trip: 2 hours max.). Arrival in Mexico City at 15:00 hours.

 

 

II. "Cuernavaca and Taxco: eternal Spring" (3 days y 2 nights). Cost of the trip by bus and 2 nights in a hotel, one in Cuernavaca and one in Taxco (the Mexico City hotel night, correspondent to the day of the return, will be each person’s responsibility), food not included: $250usd per person.

·     Day 1: Cuernavaca (2 hour trip). Visits: Town Center, Cortés Palace and its museum, Cathedral, Borda Gardens

·     Day 2, morning: Xochicalco o "Place of the House of Flowers" (30 minutes away from Cuernavaca). 2 hour visit.

·     Day 2, afternoon: Taxco (1 hour trip from Xochicalco). Check-in at the hotel. A walk through the city is recommended, you can visit a mine and buy silver (don’t forget to compare prices). 

·     Day 3, morning: Taxco: Visit  to the Santa Prisca church: Miguel Cabrera paintings. A visit to the market and stores is recommended. At noon: trip to Tepoztlán (2 hours).

·     Day 3, afternoon: Tepoztlán. At the foot of Tepozteco Mountain (Cerro del Tepozteco). Museum in the former Dominican convent.  The courageous ones can climb the mountain.  (1 hour to 1 hour & 1/2 hike) to see the pyramidal structure constructed by the Aztecs.

·     Day 3, evening: Return to Mexico City.

 

III. "Oaxaca: Cradle of Writing in the Americas" (5 Days and 4 nights). Cost of trip by bus and  4 hotel nights in Oaxaca, food not included: $300usd per person.

·     Day 1: Oaxaca (6 hour trip). Arrival and check-in at the hotel. In the afternoon, visit to the City Center: "zócalo" and Governmental Palace.

·     Day 2: Market, Tamayo Museum and Graphic Arts Institute of Oaxaca (Toledo Museum). In the afternoon: Former convent of Santo Domingo de Guzmán.

·     Day 3: Monte Albán and Cuilapan or Coyolapan in Náhuatl, "Río del Coyote". Possible literary evening in Santo Domingo.

·     Day 4: Zapoteca Region: Tlacochaguaya (church), Dainzú (buildings), Lambitieco (tombs), Yagul (fortress), Mitla (city), Teposcolula (church) and Teotitlán del Valle (wool textiles).

·     ­Day 5: Trip from OaxacaMexico City.
